- Arrive at least 15 minutes early. If you are late, DMV may cancel and the next slot can be weeks away. (dmv.nv.gov)

What to bring
- Your current driver's license and your valid Nevada CLP. (dmv.nv.gov)
- A representative vehicle with a readable manufacturer GVWR/GCWR plate on the vehicle and any trailer. Without it you cannot test. (dmv.nv.gov)
- Valid registration for the vehicle and trailer and a Nevada Evidence of Insurance card (SR-22 not accepted). Rentals need the rental agreement and usually a "Permission to Test" letter. (dmv.nv.gov)
- An empty vehicle (placarded tankers need a purge certificate) and your own pointer for the vehicle inspection. (dmv.nv.gov)
Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT)
- ELDT applies to first-time Class A or B applicants, upgrades from B to A, and first-time passenger (P), school bus (S) or hazmat (H) endorsements. Your provider must be on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry. (dmv.nv.gov)
- It does not apply if you held a CDL or the P, S or H endorsement before February 7, 2022. Some 49 CFR Part 383 skills-test exceptions also exempt you. (fmcsa.dot.gov)
- Find a registered provider on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry. (tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov)
Need training first? Search registered ELDT providers near you on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry.
Tips
- Bring a pointer (stick, rod or PVC pipe); Nevada requires one for the pre-trip inspection.
- Loaded vehicles are turned away, and roadside weight ratings do not count as proof of GVWR.
- Reno and Silverado accept walk-ins; Elko and Winnemucca need an appointment.
